Vero Beach, Disney Resort

View from our room
Just returned from our week at Disney's Vero Beach Resort...only to find that our auto cat feeder, failed to feed our 2 cats...aaaggghhh! I don't know how long they went without food but I am so thankful that they both survived :-) Whew!  I feel so bad :(

Back to the subject.....Resort was WONDERFUL!  Our whole family had such a great time, there were plenty of activities going on through out each day.... that we never really felt like we needed to leave the property to "do something".  As Disney Vacation Club Members the $ activities were just a wee less $.

Water Bucket Relay

We all joined in the Pool side party each day at 11:30.  Tons of games for everyone...

There were the Waterslide Races, that we of course dominated :-) I have the bruises to show from my speedy journey down....
Hanging out with the staff

We painted Mickey plates ($10.00 a plate) I had to do most of the painting for my 3 year old.

Painting Mickey plates
Tie Dye T-shirt
The older girls did Mickey Tie-Dye T-shirts, they turned out very cute ($15.00 each).  These are what they each brought home as souvenirs from vacation :-)

Pirate Dinner with Goofy
On Tuesday, we made reservations at the restaurant, Shutters.  It is an all you can eat buffet of BBQ type food.  It is a pirate theme, character dinner with Goofy and Donald.   It is priced like all Disney Character dining.  Only at this buffet the food is brought directly to you and there was no selection of desert....if you didn't like cupcakes then you were out of luck.  The food was good, but again, I like some greens with my meals and a salad wasn't an option :(  So, the characters were fun for the kids, loved the pirate kerchief that we were given, but felt it was just al little over priced for the lack of selection on the food end.

We enjoyed playing on the beach....lovely beach with very little traffic outside the resort property.  Rental equipment is available for a price.  We take our own beach stuff so I have no clue the prices of these items.

Campfire~making Smores
Waterslide
There is a camp fire (rain or shine) on Mon, Weds, and Fri.  I was surprised how much fun we all had, for the first time in my life I witnessed my dad dancing to the Hokey Pokey and singing along with the leaders :-)  Songs were all simple and familiar....the little caught on quickly and are actually still singing some of them around the house today.  Don't worry it was not long and drawn out....short, simple and on to the s'mores....oh yes, I said s'mores.  While the line was long it was VERY quick...they have this process down....There is no fee for this event :-)

Pirates Boat Splash area

The pirates ship splash area was a favorite for our 3 year old....we all enjoyed the waterslide.  Thankfully there is no height or age restrictions.  Only one at a time, they have complimentary life jackets if you need one!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, lockout.  Our unit was on the 3rd floor giving us the gorgeous view of the ocean.   4 adults, 1 teen, 1 tween, and 2 children slept comfortably.  There is a stackable washer and dryer and full kitchen.  My biggest complaint is that the table only sat 4 making it impossible for us to all sit around the table and eat together.  Also, wasn't really much room for TV watching.  We had to rearrange the furnishings to all be able to see the TV.  But then again it's a vacation villa....TV is not the most important feature :-)  We stayed the second week of September....perfect!  There were plenty of other children to play with ours and yet we never felt crowded during our stay.
