Key West as a tourist :)
What a great trip...despite the bad weather, we enjoyed our time in the Florida Keys!
Of course, we had to do all the usual things that every tourist does when in Key West :-)
We trekked through downtown, enjoying Duval Street...all the shops and restaurants (lots of bars along the way also). We stopped to let Chase get her ear pierced (cartilage....something she has been asking for awhile, now)
We stopped for photos at mile marker 0 and at the southern most point in the US.
We did a tour of the light house, (free for military, yay). There is a little museum detailing the history of this light house and the caretakers, with recordings if ya don't feel like reading! After climbing, alot of really narrow stairs (beware if you are afraid of heights) you are rewarded with a breath taking view of Key West, and an excellent breeze :) The climb down felt much more intimidating to me due to the fact that you had to look down to avoid falling!
Since we saved sooo much $$$ on the lighthouse we visited the Butterfly conservatory (which is air conditioned...aaahhhh). It was a little expensive costing us almost $50.00 for our family of 6. (military discount and 1 child free). Absolutely, gorgeous butterfly exhibit. They are EVERYWHERE, and said to be good luck if they land on you ;-) All of us really enjoyed this detour.
